Architectural Engineering Department at Engineering and Information Technology Faculty, Al-Zahraa University for Women, organized a practical field trip to Al-Khayr Residential City for first-year female students, the initiative aimed to reinforce the practical application of theoretical knowledge in residential architectural design.
The department’s academic staff, led by Lect. Dr. Khawla Asim, Head of Department: Asst. Lect. Maysun Safi, the Department Coordinator, and Prof. Dr. Abd Al-Sahib Al-Baghdadi, a faculty member, supervised the visit.
The trip's objective was to introduce female students to the concept of the “residential neighborhood” and the architectural variations of housing units, a critical component in supporting the students’ final architectural design projects for the academic year.
Eng. Prof. Majid Al-Baydani, the site project manager, provided a comprehensive explanation of the development, including access points, surrounding service roads, as well as the typologies of residential units. He also emphasized the significance of integrating essential services such as commercial centers and schools within residential planning.
This educational activity forms part of the department’s ongoing efforts to develop female students’ understanding of urban design principles in alignment with international quality standards, ensuring graduates are equipped with contemporary skills relevant to the evolving field of architectural engineering.
