Under the auspices of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and the supervision of the President of Al-Zahraa University, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the Women’s Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center and the Colleges of Engineering and IT and Education (Department of Special Education), organized a scientific workshop titled “Exploring Autism Through the Eyes of Children.”
The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Qahtan Fadhel Rahi and Assistant Prof. Dr. Hiba Jabbar Al-Uqabi. It focused on reviewing the latest scientific methods for diagnosing and understanding autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The speakers emphasized the importance of careful observation of children with autism and how specialists can apply early detection and diagnosis techniques to determine the extent of the disorder. The session also highlighted recent studies that link certain genetic factors to the development of autism.
The workshop witnessed strong engagement from attendees, who raised many questions about the best ways to support children with autism and the roles families and communities play in improving their quality of life.
The session concluded with key recommendations emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, effective intervention, and the promotion of scientific research in this field. It also called for increased collaboration between academic and community institutions to raise awareness about autism and to create supportive environments for affected children and their families.
