As part of Al-Zahraa University for Women’s ongoing commitment to supporting technological advancement in Iraq, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Ghaidaa Abdul-Hussein Al-Mulla, participated in a high-level legislative workshop organized by the Founding Council of the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate.
The workshop, held under the auspices of the Presedent of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and in collaboration with the Parliamentary Development Institute and the Legislative Department of the Iraqi Parliament, focused on the significance of enacting the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate Law. Discussions emphasized the importance of this proposed law in regulating the programming and technology sector, with the goal of fostering technological progress across the country. Participants highlighted that the legislation would not only enhance the working environment for programmers, but also serve as a cornerstone in building a sustainable digital economy. It is expected to improve the state’s technological performance and strengthen Iraq’s regional and international standing in technology and artificial intelligence.
In her remarks, Dr. Al-Mulla underscored that the enactment of the Syndicate Law represents a strategic move toward establishing a strong legal framework that supports innovation and advancement in information technology. She stressed the need to empower Iraqi talent through a legislative and regulatory environment that encourages creativity and keeps pace with global digital transformations.
The Iraqi Programmers Syndicate, composed of elite academics, experts, and professionals in the tech field, reaffirmed that while the challenges and opportunities tied to this law are significant, initiatives like this are crucial to accelerating Iraq’s technical progress and opening new horizons for investment in modern technology sectors.
The workshop comes at a time when there is growing momentum to modernize Iraq’s digital infrastructure and integrate efforts between the public and private sectors in support of the digital economy, reflecting a strong national commitment to advancing Iraq’s position in innovation and technology.
