Engineering and Information Technology Faculty in cooperation with the university’s Centre for Continuous Education organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Promising Alternatives for Renewable Energy in Southern Iraq from Perspective of Architectural Researcher.” The said event was Under the aegis of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghaida’ Abd Al-Hussein Al-Mulla, the Faculty Dean. Additionally, Asst. Lect. Maysoun Safi Al-Moussawi led the workshop, with the participation of many academics and researchers in the energy and architectural engineering fields.

The workshop aimed to highlight the promising potential of renewable energy in southern regions of Iraq, in light of the pressing environmental and economic challenges facing the country. It also focused on the architectural researcher’s perspective in designing sustainable environments that rely on clean energy sources such as solar, wind, as well as hydropower.

The session included a series of academic and research-based contributions that explored mechanisms for integrating renewable energy into future architectural projects. Besides, it discussed public policy strategies that could support the transition toward sustainable energy.

This workshop forms part of the University’s broader strategy to integrate renewable energy concepts into academic curricula and intensify research efforts to develop viable solutions tailored to Iraq’s climatic and economic context. Translated by Zahra' Ala'
